In NYC’s dense transit system, stations may seem equally accessible—but for wheelchair users or blind/low vision travelers, each journey can be drastically different. This project explores how accessibility at subway affects the travel experience of people with disabilities.
Problem
Despite NYC’s progress in transit accessibility, many stations still offer unequal experiences to disabled users due to unreliable infrastructure and poorly communicated features. These gaps remain hidden to most but drastically shape everyday mobility.
Concept
This project visualizes the transit experience at Jay St–MetroTech for disabled and non-disabled users, comparing routes, infrastructure reliance, and experience quality. By combining open transit data, accessibility tools, and UX mapping, it reveals structural inequities and highlights opportunities for inclusive design in public transportation.
